What Is SMM2H?

SMM2H stands for Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home. It is a long-term residency visa that lets you live in Sarawak and travel freely in and out of Malaysia. The programme is managed entirely by the Sarawak Government.

Key Terms After Approval

Once you have obtained your pass, there are a few simple rules to keep it active.

Requirements

Stay in Sarawak for at least 30 days every year

Restrictions

No full-time employment in Malaysia
Part-time work: Up to 20 hours/week is allowed in approved sectors (Education, Banking/Securities, Manufacturing, and Medical). You must apply to the government for a work permit.

Property Purchase in Sarawak

SMM2H pass holders can purchase property in Sarawak, subject to the Land Code (Amendment)(No.2) Order 1998.

After 1 year in the programme, visa holders may withdraw up to 50% of their Fixed Deposit for a property purchase, car purchase, medical expenses, or children's education in Sarawak.
